The following products are available from our preferred suppliers:

Deaf Alerter

Deaf Alerter Deaf Alerter

From: Deaf Alerter PLC

Deaf Alerter is primarily used for fire alarm and public address messaging. It can also be used for bomb evacuation warning, personal on-site paging (text messages), equipment alarm warning and security staff messaging.
The Alerter is a small radio receiver that is carried by the Deaf or hard of hearing user, which vibrates when it receives a message from a Deaf Alerter transmitter. It has a display on the top where the user views the information sent to them. The unit is light, robust and easy to use.

When the Alerter receives an emergency evacuation alert (for example a building fire alarm) the unit vibrates and displays the message. The Alerter will continue to vibrate until the person is out of the service area of the transmitter i.e. outside the building. During an emergency situation the Alerter also emits a piercing audible tone. Although this may not be heard by a hard of hearing wearer, should they become trapped, for example in a smoke-filled room, the tone will assist emergency rescue personnel to find them.

When the Alerter receives ordinary work-related or public address messages, these are received just once and the Alerter vibrates, the message is then held in memory. The user can replay any of the last six messages they have received by pressing a button on the alerter. Non-emergency messages can have the audible tone muted.

Deaf Alerter Night Cradle and Vibrating Pillow Pad

Deaf Alerter Night Cradle and Vibrating Pillow Pad Deaf Alerter Night Cradle and Vibrating Pillow Pad

From: Deaf Alerter PLC

Used in bedrooms, the Night Cradle™ is used to wake up a Deaf person when they are asleep in bed, or to attract their attention when they are in the bedroom or en-suite bathroom and the building fire alarm is activated.
On retiring to bed or undressing, the deaf person places their Alerter into the Night Cradle. When an alert or message is received, the Alerter communicates with the Night Cradle which switches on the under pillow vibrating pad and flashes a light Indicator.
(Note: the flash frequency of the light has been carefully selected not to affect people who suffer from epilepsy).

The vibration unit and light will continue to operate until the building’s fire alarm is reset or the Alerter removed from the Night Cradle. The mains-powered Night Cradle contains its own battery-backup facility to operate during “mains fail” situations.

An optional feature is to also connect to the bedroom's telephone or minicom. When an incoming ringtone is detected, the strobe will flash and the pillow pad will vibrate. This can be used for hotel wake up calls or general alerting of an incoming (text) mini-com call.

A major advantage of the Night Cradle is that Deaf people do not have to be allocated specially modified rooms and can move room easily. This means they can have the same freedom of movement and room selection as a hearing person, and does not demean Deaf people by insisting that they have to use a "catch-all" modified room with features designed to encompass all manner of disabilities (some or all of which might have absolutely no bearing on that person).

Deaf Alerter Transmitter

Deaf Alerter Transmitter Deaf Alerter Transmitter

From: Deaf Alerter PLC

When the fire alarm sounds, the Deaf Alerter transmitter repeatedly transmits alarm messages to all Alerters within range.
The transmitter contains its own battery back up (UPS system) in case of failure of the mains electrical supply. The transmitter continuously monitors its own health in terms of availability of mains power, availability of battery backup, output power from the transmitter, VSWR of the aerial system. Any failure will be automatically detected and report visually on the front panel and output to the fire alarm control panel.
