Budget Tailored Solutions
For every access challenge there will be a number of possible solutions. Which one you choose will depend on a number of factors including:
- type of service you provide
- the cost and what you have already spent
- your business size and resources
- any disruption it might cause
- financial or other assistance available to you
- whether it will be effective and is practical
Take an inaccessible entrance........... a disabled customer cannot open and close the door. The different levels of solutions could be:
- install a fully automated door or semi automated door
- fit sensor activated door openers to existing doors
- provide a touch-pad operated electric opener
- mount a call button at entrance to alert staff to help being needed
- subscribe to the Service Call system
- train staff to monitor entrance to assist those entering
You need to provide information to a customer who uses Braille. The possible solutions, depending on your circumstances, might be:
- buy your own transcription software and Braille printer
- use a transcription service
- offer material by email and/or on disc as many Braille users will have equipment to access this
- with time at a premium, offer to read documents to your customer
- enquire if an audiotape is acceptable
